each one teach one

Guru Nanak Dev Ji proclaimed the great concept of ' Kirat Karo, Naam Japo and Wand Chhako '. 'Wand Chhako' conceptualised the idea of ' Daswandh' ie spending one's one tenth of earning for good deeds , charity and helping the needy ones.

This very concept and the pitiable conditions of Sikligar families in Karnataka which the founders saw, gave birth to Karnataka Sikh Welfare Society in the year 2000. These families are scattered at many places in Karnataka: Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bailhongal, Shiggaon, Yadgiri, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bijapur, Nipani, Koppal, Gokak and Mudhol. Due to vagaries of time and circumstances these families are stuck in a vortex of poverty and misery. In the year 2000, not a single child was going to School and they were living in very un-hygeinic conditions in Jhuggies. In collobration of Nishkam, New Delhi, it was decided to provide education to their children, Pucca and clean housing and financial assistance in Medical emergencies/cases. We are today providing education to 550 Students in Schools and Colleges. These include students of needy families of other religions as well.

Our mission is to provide the Students Quality education, Vocational training and Career guidance, so that after completing studies, they get proper jobs and with better earnings, raise the standard of living. We got 22 Houses built for these families in Bangalore and 26 Houses in Mysore. It is indeed encouraging to see that in a short span of time, one can see tremendous change in their life style. They are now better turned out and very confident in their inter-personal dealings. Our ongoing initiatives for rehabilitation and social emancipation of above families are supported by the donors and well wishers. Since year by year the number of needy Students is increasing, we look forward to more and more Donors joining us in our endeavours.us in our endeavours. please join us in our efforts & endeavour to educate the children of poor & needy families. It is indeed our responsibility to educate and uplift their status in our society. It is indeed our responsibility to educate and uplift their status in our society.
